U.S. Mint Releases Final Presidential Dollar Coin Of 2009: The Zachary Taylor Dollar
Yesterday, the United States Mint released the Zachary Taylor Presidential dollar coin. It’s the 12th coin in the Presidential $1 coin series honoring our nation’s past leaders.
The Zachary Taylor dollar coin:
- Bears an image of the 12th president on the obverse (heads side), with the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" inscribed just to the lower left of Taylor’s portrait.
- Has on the reverse (tail’s side) an image of the Statue of Liberty with the words "United States of America" arching most of the design.
The Zachary Taylor dollar coin should be hitting your local circulation channels in the coming weeks — with banks and some types of vending machines being the likeliest opportunities for you to get your hands on one of these new dollar coins.
The Zachary Taylor dollar is also available in U.S. Mint proof sets and mint sets. It will cost you more than face value to get a Zachary Taylor dollar that way, but can guarantee getting mint-fresh, uncirculated examples that will make a wonderful addition to your collection.
