Ultra High Relief Double Eagle

The United States Mint has announced that the Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin is now on sale to the public. However the supply of these coins will depend on the availability of gold blanks. The obverse shows Liberty striding forward. A young eagle in flight is depicted on the reverse. The sculptor Augustus Saint - Gaudens originally designed the 1907 Ultra High Relief Double Gold Eagle Coin, which was never put into circulation. The 2009 coin will be mounted in a wood platform and contained within a highly lacquered mahogany wood box. A special companion book will also be included.

Italian investigators organised dozens of raids this week and made scores of arrests as part of a nation wide investigation into an alleged criminal network that was said to have produced at least a million fake Euro notes and coins. The police have said that the operation started as a probe into drug dealing and subsequently discovered the counterfeiting network.
